Recent Updates

17th March, 2005
- Like the proverbial phoenix from the flames, WarLeic rises once more to give you another two quality submissions. Today we have "The Messenger" and "Up Above", both by Dave Jones. Thanks, Dave! Go have a read, and let see a few more of you dropping us submissions in the near future!

6th October, 2004
- Many of you probably expected you wouldn't see another update here, but just to prove you wrong, after a six month absence we bring you "And The Winner Is..." by Dave Jones. Who now will pick up the torch and fuel a resurrection of the WarLeic endeavour? Get those fingers to keyboards and start writing!

22nd March, 2004
- Two new submissions today from our veteran author, Paul Taylor. We have "Which Side, Which War" and "Dark Inspirations" for your enjoyment. Thanks, Paul! Keep the subs rolling in!

27th January, 2004
- Today we offer conclusive proof that there are too many Daves in the world... Due to a small error, "Jesper Street Station" was yesterday attributed to Dave Jones, whereas in fact it was written by Dave Watson. Apologies to the authors involved, and we promise not to do it again. Honest. The error has now been corrected.

If you want someone to blame, that guy over there seems like an excellent candidate! *runs away and hides!*

26th January, 2004
- Welcome to the first WarLeic update of 2004! Two veteran authors bring us three new submissions to help ring in the (rather belated, admitedly) new year.

So, with further ado, go have a look at the newest additions to the WarLeic story! Dave Watson gives us "Jesper Street Station" and Paul Taylor has written "Religiosity" and "Tact and Diplomacy" for our enjoyment. Thanks to both of you! Keep the subs rolling in!

3rd December, 2003
- Come on, admit it, you thought that was it, didn't you? You thought 48 stories were all you were going to get. That WarLeic had finally come to rest.

But you were wrong!

After a six month hiatus (has it really been that long?) WarLeic is back! Two new stories from Jenna and new author Emily (Welcome aboard!) bring us up to our half century of sci-fi goodness. Check out "Like a Kid in a Candy Store" and "Dream [Deferred]". Doesn't that make you feel warm inside? So pick up those old characters, dust the plot off and come and rejoin us for a grand WarLeic revival!

Please?

4th June, 2003
- For those of you who might not have noticed, WarLeic's third incarnation is almost upon its very first birthday! Look at the bottom of this very page and you'll see the site went online on June 20th, 2002. If you have any suggestions for an appropriate celebration, let us know!

But for now, content yourselves with this latest update, composed of one new sub from Paul, "Flyby", bringing his total up to a round 20, and two submissions from our very own editor Jenna, "Bentley Space" and "Softness and Waste". Thanks to both of you! And to the rest of you - enjoy, keep sending in those subs, and should you happen to have any skill at baking, this WebDragon is rather fond of chocolate cake on birthday type occasions.

6th May, 2003
- Hands up all those who thought WarLeic had been sucked into a black hole, never to be seen again! Well, you were almost right, but the truth is far stranger, involving aliens, starships, croissants and a feather duster. I won't bother you all with the whole story, but the outcome is that none of the editors can really be held responsible for our two month absence. Really.

But enough excuses! What you are all here for are, of course, are some brand new updates! Four new chapters for you all this time, including "Pictures Through Telescopes" and "And Now For The Rest" by veteran author Paul Taylor, "Erasure" by Dave Jones, and "Memories Not Erased By The Storm" by none other than me! Enjoy, and if you send us some subs, the next update might not be so far away! Maybe.

2nd March, 2003
- It's another sub from Paul today, he brings us - "Predator and Prey". It's been a little quiet of late at WarLeic, so why don't you all send us some submissions? I promised the other editors you would, and you wouldn't want to make me a liar, would you? Would you?? Take care!

7th February, 2003
- Another sub from Paul today - "Interlude to Better Things" - which brnigs his sub total up to an impressive 16, and the site up to a nice round 40. Come on, everyone, only another ten to the big half century! Take care and enjoy the new sub!

28th January, 2003
- Just a small update for everyone today, a single submission from our veteran author Paul, titled "A Taste of the Underground". Read, enjoy, and keep those subs rolling in! Adios amigos!

1st January, 2003
- Happy new year everyone! As the old saying goes "start how you mean to go on". So what better way to start the year than with three new chapters in the WarLeic story? We have two new submissions from our own editor Jenna in the form of "The Straw-Dust Women" and "And The Green Knight", and the very first submission from yours truly - "Raid", which may not be the greatest submission ever to hit these pages, but it does have a very short title. So, when you've managed to get over any New Year hangover you may be suffering, go and have a read. Enjoy!

22nd December, 2002
- Another very nearly Christmas WarLeic update for you today! Three updates in ten days - some of you have been busy! We have two new submissions, "Time" by Dave Jones and "Ace of Spades" by Michelle Sampson. Read and enjoy!

13th December, 2002
- As usual, we don't have an update for ages and then two come along at once! We have another almost Christmas update for you today in the shape of a sub from Graham entitled "Dark Island". Enjoy, and keep those subs rolling in!

10th December, 2002
- Merry almost Christmas everyone! Things have been quiet on the story front recently, but we finally have another sub - this time a multi-author mini-epic, "Thorn and Petal" from authors Dave Jones, Paul Taylor, Ben Wright and, introducing the second editor to get into the mix, Mich Sampson. Share and enjoy, people!

31st October, 2002
- Happy Halloween everyone! It's been a quiet couple of weeks for WarLeic, but here we are with another small update. And coincidentally, Halloween sees us putting up Paul's thirteenth sub, entitled "Luck of the Draw". Enjoy the new sub and keep the new ones rolling in!

4th October, 2002
- No new subs today, but a couple of structural changes. Firstly, just so you don't think you're seeing things, we've rearranged a couple of Paul's subs on the story list, at his request. Secondly, we have put downloadable copies of all the submissions on the "Story So Far" page. You can download the complete story in Rich Text or Word 2000 formats, and separate 10-sub chunks in Rich Text format if you prefer your downloads to be a little smaller. If anyone has any problems with the chosen formats or with the files themselves, please let us know and we'll do whatever we can to get things fixed.

2nd October, 2002
- Today we have another set of three submissions for your viewing pleasure. From new author, Robin, we have "First Look" and "Inception", and from veteran Paul Taylor we have "Message in a Bottle" which has been inserted a little early in the string of stories to account for a stocktaking error, but I'm sure you'll all be able to find it. Thanks, Paul, and welcome to the story, Robin! Also, please note that the deadline for the Grand WarLeic Competition has passed, and we'll announce the results shortly.

26th September, 2002
- Another three subs for your enjoyment today. We have another two from Paul - "Pink Slip" and "Points of View" - and one from Graham - "The Wrong Side of Another Day". Remember - you've all got just six days left to get your entries in for the Grand WarLeic Competition. Don't delay, write your entry today! (You can tell I was tired when I wrote this, can't you?) Enjoy!

18th September, 2002
- Three new subs for you today! Two from author Paul Taylor - "Semper Fi" and "Symptom of the Universe" - and one from Ben Wright - "The Cave". Also, we have a glossary entry from Paul, describing the Direct Response Orbital Drop Craft, or DRODC. Thanks guys! Don't forget the competition challenge laid down by our own Despot on the collab group - you've got just two more weeks to get your entry in!

14th September, 2002
- Another sub online for you to read today. Check out "Seek and You Shall Find" by Paul Taylor. Thanks Paul! We've also included a short pronunciation guide for the sub in the Online Glossary. Just follow the link at the bottom of the sub to find it. Enjoy!

- Holy double update! After months, well, hours (well, minutes) of work, the rough map of the Tycho Nebula has finally been placed on our Geography page. I hope you all find it useful!

6th September, 2002
- Just a quick update today. We now have profiles for all three editors - you can check them out on the editor page!

28th August, 2002

We also have the first external contribution to the Online Glossary in the form of Ben's description of molecular distortion batteries. You can access the glossary here or here (Non-Java).

7th August, 2002
- Two new submissions online for you today! Here we have "Power Save None" by Paul Taylor and "Space Is Deep" by Graham Wallidge. Thanks guys! And extra thanks to Paul, who has given us character bios for his two new characters, Pita Gospeed and Jess Hawkwind, which you can see here. Keep 'em coming, folks! Also, just for fun, we now have a story counter on the front page. Just because we can!

24th July, 2002
- Five new submissions from three new authors for you today! Check them out on the Story So Far page! Our author page has been updated accordingly, and we have been given short bios for four characters, which you can view here. Thanks for the bios, Ben! We also have an entry for Chris on the editor page.

17th July, 2002
- Just a quick update today. At the request of the author, "First Contact" has been split down into two parts, "First Contact" and "Enemy Mine". Both are now available on the story page.

15th July, 2002
- "First Contact" by Paul Taylor, "Planetfall" by Geoff Hinkley and "Vision Thing" by Graham Wallidge are our three new subs for today! Big thank yous to the authors involved, you can now see their author profiles updated on the site. Remember - we still want character bios and any interesting glossary entries to do with your submissions so we can put them on the site. This site isn't just about a story, you know! No, wait.....

6th July, 2002
- "Incoming" by Dave Jones is the first sub to go live on the Tycho website. Click here to read it now! This means that our character and author pages are now in the process of going live with real details. Please do send us some character bios for your submissions, or that bit of the site will look awfully empty!

20th June, 2002
